QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES, August 1, 2019-- Love and career are two of the important things that most people consider in making major decisions in their lives. Most generations were asked which they prioritize and often their answers vary—but what does the younger generation get to say about this topic?



TFC asked two young overseas Filipinos to answer the question “what will you choose, love or career? Why?”

Snooky, 27, from Japan, chose career. She explains: “Love can come anytime, while you have to build your career from scratch until you reap what you sow. Also, frankly speaking, nowadays there is a bigger chance to find an ideal partner once you are financially stable. It makes me feel happier and satisfied to attain my personal goals in life first before settling down.”

On the other hand, Bianca, 28, from Canada chose love over career. “I’ll choose love because this will make me the happiest. I feel that love can give me the more genuine kind of happiness, while my career is only fulfilling the ambitious side of me. Love is a complete package even in its simplest form,” she explained.

This is the dilemma that the characters of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards are facing in the Star Cinema film “Hello, Love Goodbye”, written by Carmi Raymundo and under the direction of the multi-awarded and blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Joy (Kathryn) and Ethan (Alden) are two overseas Filipinos in Hong Kong with different goals in life. Joy is a domestic helper who is determined to do everything to have a better life, compared to the life she had as a child. While Ethan is a bartender who is building a permanent life in Hong Kong but has always been afraid of commitments.

In the process of getting to know each other, Joy and Ethan also discover new things about themselves, which could possibly affect the plans they have with their respective lives.

“Hello, Love, Goodbye” marks the first time that two of the prime stars today from Philippines’ media giants, ABS-CBN and GMA, are working on one project that tackles the lives of the overseas Filipinos.

“I appreciate the OFW more after seeing how hard their life is,” Kathryn said about portraying the life of an overseas Filipino. “In Hong Kong, they live a fast-phased life because they need to save. This movie opened me to different things and experiences that I can say made me whole. I salute the OFWs.”

On the other hand, Alden shared a bit what the audiences will expect in watching the film. “With this movie, the audience will see the struggles and the good side of being an OFW. Also, they will see how they evolved from the usual OFW whose only concern is the welfare of their family into someone who also thinks of their self,” he said.

Also part of the film are Maymay Entrata, Jameson Blake, Joross Gamboa, Kakai Bautista, Lovely Abella, and Jeffrey Tam.

About “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”

When teeny Teen Titan Robin learns that the story of Batman’s greatest ally and best friend in the whole world is coming to the big screen, and it is not about him—and that Hollywood is making movies about every superhero but him—he declares, “It’s time they make one about me!”

But then he’s hit with the cold, hard truth: Hollywood only makes movies about real superheroes.  “Why don’t they take us seriously?” the boy wonders.

Maybe because a superhero has to save more than…room for dessert?

Adapted for the big screen from Cartoon Network’s “Teen Titans GO!” to be a lot bigger, a lot longer, but as cheekily irrepressible as ever, “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” is a superhero movie for the whole family.  It is also the brainchild of the same team that generates the wildly popular half-hour series.



Director/producer Peter Rida Michail says that while the Teens—Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy—see themselves as superheroes, “our version of the Teen Titans are more or less outcasts from the hero world.  They’re a bunch of really silly friends having a blast just hanging out more than actually fighting crime.”

Director/writer/producer Aaron Horvath believes the Teens have a pretty good gig.  “I would say it’s better to be a sidekick than a hero,” he observes.  “There’s probably a little more humiliation involved, but a lot less pressure—you don’t get the spotlight, but nobody’s looking at you when the timer on the doomsday clock is counting down.  That’s for Batman to worry about!”

The Teens’ sub-superhero status, combined with their inherent impertinence, inspired the filmmakers to have the Titans skewer their own genre in their own genre film.  Writer/producer Michael Jelenic states, “In the movie, we subvert the superhero world in a lot of ways, poking fun at all the things fans expect out of those movies and all the things we’ve seen before.  So, it’s a superhero movie that’s not your typical superhero movie; it turns everything on its head, but it’s all in good fun and we stay true to ourselves, which we know is important to fans of the show.”

Putting it all together, “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” is a toe-tapping, time-traveling, road-tripping adventure that takes our hopeful heroes from their native Jump City to the glitz and glamour of Tinsel Town.

Over the past two decades, Tom Cruise has produced, starred in and performed in the most mind-blowing stunts in the Mission: Impossible films, a global cultural phenomenon that has grossed more than $2.8 billion worldwide, making it one of the most successful franchises in movie history.

Now he returns for a sixth film in his role as Impossible Missions Force (IMF) team leader Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – Fallout (in Philippine cinemas July 25).

According to Cruise, Mission: Impossible – Fallout is a culmination of all of the previous films in the series. “You’re going to see characters brought back and storylines brought to a conclusion,” he says. “At the beginning of the film, the book The Odyssey was chosen for a very specific reason. The journey my character, Ethan Hunt, and his team go through is an odyssey inspired by and reflective of that story. It’s an epic personal tale, and there are enormous emotional stakes for the characters.”

Cruise, who launched the franchise in 1996, brings an unparalleled understanding of what makes a Mission: Impossible film work, observes screenwriter and director Christopher McQuarrie. “Tom is the keeper of the flame. He’s an instinctive, very emotional filmmaker. He knows Ethan Hunt, and he knows what makes him an appealing character on a truly instinctive level.”

McQuarrie believes one of the reasons the franchise remains so popular is Cruise’s insatiable desire to make each film more thrilling and intense than its predecessor. “It never stands still,” says the director, who also directed 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.  “But most importantly it never forgets the audience. Tom is first and foremost an entertainer. Everything he’s doing in the movies is to take you places you’ve never been, to show you things you’ve never seen, and to put you in the experience right there with him.”

For Mission: Impossible – Fallout, McQuarrie was eager to explore a darker and more human side of the film’s central character. “Ethan has always been a bit of a mystery,” he observes.  “This time I wanted to be more inside his head and feel his connection with other people. The title refers not only to nuclear fallout but also to the fallout of all of Ethan’s good intentions. He has walked into a situation beyond his control, and he has to go through it even though he knows he’s being manipulated.”



Cruise embodies his character in a way that few action stars ever have, concludes producer Jake Myers. “Tom not only brings great drama to the role, but he has the physical ability to do things another performer would not, both by his training and his daring. I think you can probably separate most other action franchises from their stars, but without Tom there really isn’t an Ethan Hunt, at least not the one audiences worldwide have so wholeheartedly embraced.”

“It’s an incredible honor to be part of Disney’s first-ever `Hall D’ in Asia, and I’m as excited as ever to meet and engage with Disney fans in the Philippines,” said Henn who’s a first-time visitor to the country.

A veteran animator at Walt Disney Animation Studios for 38 years, Henn is currently serving as the 2D animation supervisor for the studios’ upcoming feature film, “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” (in Philippine cinemas November 21).

Henn will hold an exclusive presentation inside `Hall D,’ tracing his beginnings at Disney, up to the illustrious present. Henn is the artist behind the classic Disney characters  Ariel in “The Little Mermaid,” Belle in “Beauty and the Beast,” Jasmine in “Aladdin,” Young Simba in “The Lion King,” title characters “Mulan” and “Pochahontas,” and Princess Tiana in “The Princess and the Frog.”

In 2000, Henn traded his pencil for a director’s chair on the award-winning short “John Henry,” based on the popular American legend.

Previously, Henn served as lead 2D animator on the Academy Award®-winning “Big Hero 6” and “Frozen.”

In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.


The series will feature the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson (Bean), Eric Andre (Luci), and Nat Faxon (Elfo)  along with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
