Have you lived enough? Have you loved enough?

These are the questions that will make TV viewers ponder about their lives, relationships and death once ABS-CBN's upcoming primetime romantic drama series "Pure Love" airs this July.

Starring Alex Gonzaga and Yen Santos, "Pure Love" is a local adaptation of the well-loved 2011 Korean TV series "49 Days," which will highlight true love and the strong ties that bind a Filipino family. It tells the story of Diane (Alex), an optimistic rich girl who seems to have everything; and Ysabel (Yen), an average working girl who led a rather 'lifeless' life since her boyfriend died.

One day, because of an accident, Diane and Ysabel’s fates became entwined. In her state of coma, Diane discovered through the mysterious "Scheduler" that she was not destined to die yet. Then she will be given a second chance at life, that is, after completing a special task--to gather three "pure" teardrops shed out of pure love by three people outside her family within the next 40 days. To help her accomplish her task, Scheduler gives Diane the chance to inhabit the body of Ysabel.

Will Dianne and Ysabel succeed in bringing their lives back after the 40-day ordeal fate has put them through?

Directed by Veronica Velasco and Mikey Del Rosario, “Pure Love” will also feature Arron Villaflor, Arjo Atayde, Joseph Marco, Matt Evans, Yam Concepcion and introducing Anna Luna. Completing the cast are Sunshine Cruz, John Arcilla, Ana Capri, Bart Guingona, Dante Ponce, Shey Bustamante.

Don’t miss the premiere of the newest Kapamilya romantic drama series, “Pure Love” this July 7 (Monday) before "TV Patrol" on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida. The much anticipated line-up of finalists for the Cinema One Originals Festival of 2013 has, at last, been revealed.

The 15 chosen films showcase a new breed of Filipino filmmaking talent that is entirely its own.

Under the CINEMA ONE PLUS category (2 million production budget), there are five films:

“BLUE BUSTAMANTE” by director Miko Livelo is a family drama-comedy that focuses on the story of an OFW who suddenly becomes jobless in Japan. A friend introduces him to a Sentai director who convinces him to be a double for Blue Force, a superhero character in an upcoming Japanese show.

“SITIO” by director Mes de Guzman is a psychological drama about a family who moves from the city to the province in search of a simpler life, only to find more problems and setbacks instead.

“ALAMAT NI CHINA DOLL” by director Adolf Alix, Jr. tells the dramatic story of a woman named Helen who lives with her grandmother in an idyllic island down south. At the age of 25, she is hopeful about finally graduating from high school and starting a new life. However, an article entitled “China Doll” reveals details about a controversy and turns things around for Helen. Screenplay is by award-winning director Lav Diaz.

“WOMAN OF THE RUINS" by director Keith Sicat” is a mystery drama in which on a storm-ravaged island, a person assumed dead reappears and ignites a frenzy of reactions, ranging from ecstatic religious fervor to fear.

Under the CINEMA ONE CURRENTS category (1 million production budget), the 10 films are:

“ANGUSTIA” by director Kristian Cordero, is set in the 19th century Bicolandia where a Spanish friar falls for a woman of indigenous origins.

“ANG PAGBABALAT NG AHAS” by director Timmy Harn delves into a lower middle-class family who moves to an upper middle-class village where a mad scientist is keeping a snake-man captive.

“ISLANDS” by director Whammy Alcarazen, an experimental/science-fiction, is about a spacecraft that lands through the geographies of a fictional film entitled “Islands,” and the reality in which it is that is depicted as as a movie.

“BUKAS NA LANG SAPAGKAT GABI NA” by director Jet Leyco is a four-part narrative of three related occurrences sparked by an accident that happens to a Filipino-Spanish priest.

“ISKALAWANGS” by director Keith Deligero, a comedy, is an aching coming-of-age tale of friendship and youth set in a small town in Cebu.

“SUFFOCATING ETERNITY OF AN IMAGINED PURGATORY” by director Joseph Laban is a horror story about missing kids in Marinduque who are believed to have been kidnapped by spirits of the sea.

“PHILIPPINO STORY” by director Benjamin Garcia is a cautionary tale that reveals the dangers and drama behind male prostitution.

“SHIFT” by Siege Ledesma tells the story of an idealistic, tomboyish, call center slacker who is mentored by a pragmatic, gay senior agent. Their interaction develops into an unconventional relationship that eventually challenges their most personal convinctions.

“BENDOR” by director Ralston Jover is set in Manila's Quiapo Church 40 days before the annual Good Friday procession of the miraculous 400-year-old Black Nazarene statue. An early morning mass is disrupted when a candle vendor finds a blood-soaked box containing a dead fetus.

“RIDDLES OF MY HOMECOMING” by Davao-based director Arnel Mardoquio presents an insight into the lives of Lumads and Moros of Mindanao as it depicts the belief that when a person dies, his soul returns to his homeland.

This line-up of films is proof that local filmmakers are taking things to whole new heights.

Iron Man 3 Broke Box-Office Record in the Philippines

5:06:00 AM

MANILA, April 29 – Tony Stark singlehandedly broke all existing box-office records in the Philippines, as Marvel's “Iron Man 3” grossed a monumental P305.96-million in five days – the biggest opening weekend EVER and the fastest time to reach the P300-M mark in local history!

MARVEL's "Iron Man 3" Moscow Press Tour_Robert Downey, Jr.

This was announced today by Victor R. Cabrera, Managing Director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines, which distributed the film.

“We are elated and proud of this remarkable achievement,” said Cabrera. “Marvel has crafted a spectacular film and this just adds to Disney and Marvel’s commitment in keeping the property evergreen. You see Marvel and Iron Man everywhere, in movie theatres, on TV, malls, in retail, publishing, etc. You see people in Iron Man t-shirts, kids playing with Iron Man toys. Filipinos are just true Iron Man fans. We cannot be happier with the way the Filipino consumer is embracing the movie and the property.”

“Iron Man 3” opened across the country April 24 with a stunning P62.9-M which obliterated two box-office records – the highest opening day ever (beating 2007's “Spider-Man 3”) and all-time most successful Wednesday (surpassing “Marvel's The Avengers”).

From then on, the film never looked back – smashing single-day records one after another, specifically, biggest Thursday (P48-M), Friday (P48.41-M), Saturday (P71.94-M) and Sunday (P74.63-M). All previous records were established last year by “Marvel's The Avengers.”

Disney rolled out “Iron Man 3” in more than 500 cinemas throughout the archipelago and in 3D, 2D, IMAX 3D and 35mm formats. Getting the lion's share of gross receipts was SM Mall of Asia (P19.56-M), followed by SM North EDSA (P17.69-M) and Trinoma (P13.11-M).

Not to be outdone are SM Megamall (P12.58-M), SM Cebu (P9.25-M), Glorietta 4 (P9.11-M), SM Southmall (P7.85-M), Newport (P6.35-M), SM Fairview (P6.29-M), Eastwood (P5.99-M) and Power Plant (P5.82-M).

Also posting impressive receipts are Alabang Town Center (P5.81-M), Greenbelt 3 (P5.73-M), SM Clark (P5.30-M), Market! Market! (P5.10-M), Gateway (P4.89-M), SM Marikina (P4.28-M), Ayala Cebu (P4.22-M), Shang Cineplex (P4.20-M) and Robinsons Ermita (P4.156-M).

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968, “Iron Man 3” returns Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, the iconic Super Hero, along with Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

Now playing across the Philippines, “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
