Navillera: Song Kang makes a perfect transformation into a ballerino with big dreams

12:51:00 PM

2021 Mar 5th  - The trailer for Navillera, a drama about the unlikely friendship between Deok-chul, a 70-year-old man who takes up ballet, and Chae-rok, a late bloomer 23-year-old ballerino, has been unveiled. Adapted from the highly acclaimed webtoon of the same name, Navillera unites director Han Dong-hwa, called the master of the human drama for his works Squad 38 and Miss Lee, with writer Lee Eun-mi who made a strong impression with Tunnel. Their collaboration has set high expectations.

In the drama, Park In-hwan plays a retired postman, Deok-chul, who seeks to fulfill his lifelong dream of ballet as he nears the end of his life. Song Kang plays a young man, Chae-rok, who has a unique talent for ballet but realizes his talent fairly late compared to his peers. Chae-rok’s life unexpectedly changes as he becomes a ballet mentor to the 70-year-old grandpa.

The trailer shows Park In-hwan (Deok-chul) nearing the end of his life and Song Kang (Chae-rok) who wonders if he’s on the right path with his late career start, as they find their dreams together. In the trailer, Park In-hwan captures the audience’s attention as he throws away cherished mementos in an effort to erase his attachment to ballet. However, seeking a final purge, he heads to the ballet studio where he states, “I’ve never done anything I wanted to do,” signaling a final pursuit with no regrets after recollecting his past.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the confusing reality Song Kang finds himself in. With nothing going his way - not his family, not the people around him, not even ballet - Song Kang sits on the practice room floor alone with his frustration. Tired of his cold reality, he vents, “I don’t know how to live in the future, whether there’s a tomorrow or not,” expressing regret.

In the next shot, we see Park In-hwan remark to Song Kang, “I only have one life. That’s why this moment is precious to me.” He expresses his final pursuit of his lifelong passion, ballet, as he nears the end of his life. The two men - Park In-hwan, who had no choice but to bury his dream, and Song Kang, who stands in front of his dream but without full commitment - come to pursue their challenging passions together.

Kim So-hyun, Jung Ga-ram, Song Kang Tease An Unpredictable Relationship In Love Alarm Season 2!

10:36:00 PM

February 26, 2021 - Following the release of five character posters, Netflix has revealed a new trailer for Love Alarm Season 2. Love Alarm is set in a world where a mobile app can tell individuals if someone they like or if someone who likes them is within a 10-meter radius.

The trailer opens with Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun) narrating, “In this world, you must ring an alarm when you like someone.” Jo-jo, who is dating Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram), still concerns herself with the Love Alarm app despite hers not ringing. Sun-oh (Song Kang) appears with a poker face and stares at someone. Though Jo-jo is with Hye-yeong, she cannot hide her complicated feelings for him. Sun-oh’s words and actions further complicate the situation. “From now on, I’ll trust only what your eyes tell me,” Sun-oh proclaims to Jo-jo before kissing her.

Following more emotional scenes, it becomes clear that both Hye-young and Sun-oh want to convey their true love for her. The trailer comes to a touching end with Jo-jo’s narration: “Who do I love now?” The love triangle among two men and a woman who want to confirm each other’s true feelings will unfold in this season.

The first season of Love Alarm is available to watch now, and the second season will be released on March 12, exclusively on Netflix.

Superhero Films Get Skewered When "Teen Titans GO! To the Movies"

11:16:00 AM

When teeny Teen Titan Robin learns that the story of Batman’s greatest ally and best friend in the whole world is coming to the big screen, and it is not about him—and that Hollywood is making movies about every superhero but him—he declares, “It’s time they make one about me!”

But then he’s hit with the cold, hard truth: Hollywood only makes movies about real superheroes.  “Why don’t they take us seriously?” the boy wonders.

Maybe because a superhero has to save more than…room for dessert?

Adapted for the big screen from Cartoon Network’s “Teen Titans GO!” to be a lot bigger, a lot longer, but as cheekily irrepressible as ever, “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” is a superhero movie for the whole family.  It is also the brainchild of the same team that generates the wildly popular half-hour series.

Director/producer Peter Rida Michail says that while the Teens—Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy—see themselves as superheroes, “our version of the Teen Titans are more or less outcasts from the hero world.  They’re a bunch of really silly friends having a blast just hanging out more than actually fighting crime.”

Director/writer/producer Aaron Horvath believes the Teens have a pretty good gig.  “I would say it’s better to be a sidekick than a hero,” he observes.  “There’s probably a little more humiliation involved, but a lot less pressure—you don’t get the spotlight, but nobody’s looking at you when the timer on the doomsday clock is counting down.  That’s for Batman to worry about!”

The Teens’ sub-superhero status, combined with their inherent impertinence, inspired the filmmakers to have the Titans skewer their own genre in their own genre film.  Writer/producer Michael Jelenic states, “In the movie, we subvert the superhero world in a lot of ways, poking fun at all the things fans expect out of those movies and all the things we’ve seen before.  So, it’s a superhero movie that’s not your typical superhero movie; it turns everything on its head, but it’s all in good fun and we stay true to ourselves, which we know is important to fans of the show.”

Putting it all together, “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” is a toe-tapping, time-traveling, road-tripping adventure that takes our hopeful heroes from their native Jump City to the glitz and glamour of Tinsel Town.

About “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies”

When the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big!  “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” finds our egocentric Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza—a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers.

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is!  But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick.  If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them.  With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream.  But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously Super-Villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry.  The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

The first-ever big-screen version of DC Entertainment and Cartoon Network’s animated TV show stars Greg Cipes (TV’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) as Beast Boy, Scott Menville (TV’s “Spider-Man”) as Robin, Khary Payton (“The Walking Dead”) as Cyborg, Tara Strong (the “My Little Pony” franchise) as Raven, and Hynden Walch (TV’s “Adventure Time with Finn & Jake”) as Starfire, reprising their roles from the series.

Will Arnett (“The LEGO® Batman Movie”) and Kristen Bell (“Frozen”) also lend their voices and, in guest roles, Superman super fan and Oscar winner Nicolas Cage (“Leaving Las Vegas”) portrays the Man of Steel; singer/songwriter Halsey lends her voice to Wonder Woman; and rapper/-singer Lil’ Yachty plays Green Lantern.

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Get a Taste of 'Santa Clarita Diet 2' in this Delicious New Season2 Trailer

1:57:00 AM

Welcome back to the sprawling Southern California suburb of Santa Clarita, where the weather is good and the undead are... still adjusting to life among the living.

Watch Sheila, Joel, and Abby Hammond continue to navigate the murky waters of zombie-ism in this all-new trailer for Santa Clarita Diet Season 2, launching Friday, March 23rd, globally on Netflix.

In Santa Clarita Diet, Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction...but in a good way.

Picking up right where we left off, Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet finds the Hammonds trying to adapt to Sheila’s now-advanced undead state -- even though she’s desperately working to hold on to her suburban lifestyle and not be defined as just another monster. Unfortunately -- while the family has become markedly better at murder -- the number of missing people in Santa Clarita is starting to pile up and it’s no longer going unnoticed.  Meanwhile, the Hammonds are chasing the source of the virus so they can stop it from spreading and save humanity -- which seems important. Through it all, Sheila and Joel are grounded by their unconditional love for one another.  Sure, being undead -- or loving someone who is -- isn’t always easy, but don’t all relationships have their challenges?

BE FIERCE, BE SMART, BE UNSTOPPABLE. THE ROBINSONS REVEAL WHAT IT TAKES TO VENTURE INTO SPACE. ‘LOST IN SPACE’ ON NETFLIX

The Robinsons made the decision to begin a new life in space together, and now nothing is stopping them. In this featurette Mina Sundwall (Penny Robinson), Molly Parker (Maureen Robinson), Taylor Russell (Judy Robinson), Parker Posey (Dr. Smith) and showrunner Zack Estrin, reveal how to be determined, stick together and master the challenges ahead.  Lost in Space premiered globally on April 13, only on Netflix.

Lost in Space is a Netflix Original dramatic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series. Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, lightyears from their original destination.

A Netflix Original, Lost in Space stars TOBY STEPHENS (Black Sails, Die Another Day) as John Robinson, and MOLLY PARKER (House of Cards, Deadwood) as Maureen Robinson, the family’s parental leaders who are struggling with their estranged relationship in the midst of trying to keep their family safe. As the Robinson kids, TAYLOR RUSSELL (Falling Skies) is the strong-willed and confident Judy, MINA SUNDWALL (Maggie’s Plan, Freeheld) is the quick-witted and definitive middle-child Penny, and MAX JENKINS (Sense8, Betrayal) is the curious and sensitive Will Robinson, the youngest and most vulnerable of the clan, who forms an unlikely and inexplicable bond with a sentient robotic alien being.

Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith played by PARKER POSEY (Café Society, Mascot, A Mighty Wind), is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West, played by IGNACIO SERRICCHIO (Bones, The Wedding Ringer), is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.

The Netflix Original series is produced by Legendary Television and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter). Zack Estrin (Prison Break) serves as showrunner. The three are executive producers alongside Synthesis Entertainment’s Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni with Applebox’s Neil Marshall and Marc Helwig. The original Lost in Space series was created by Irwin Allen.

7 Reasons To Watch A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2

“Look away, look away…” goes the first line of A Series of Unfortunate Events’ opening song.

But between that and Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket’s constant reminder to the faint of heart to stop watching because a series of unfortunate events is about to unfold, anyone watching would want to stick around ’til each episode’s unfortunate end. Unfortunate schmunfortunate.

When last we saw the Baudelaire orphans, they had just been dropped off by Mr. Poe at boarding school, their future bright and hopeful because Count Olaf was finally behind bars. But as we’ve seen in the trailer for the second season, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny’s misadventures with the mysterious count are far from over.

This long weekend, binge watch A Series of Unfortunate Events, currently streaming on Netflix, with 10 new episodes set to premiere on March 30, Friday. Below are the Top 7 things to look forward to in season 2.

Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf (and his many disguises!)

The costumes, the wigs, the accents -- watching Neil Patrick Harris play a different character every two episodes never gets old. He’s so good at playing Count Olaf play new characters that we almost understand why the grown-ups in the series believe him to be a different person each time.

Kids in control

Having escaped Count Olaf four times in the past season, the Baudelaires (Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, and Presley Smith, as Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, respectively) are much wiser and more courageous this time around. And because they’ve had to listen to grown-ups shoot down their it’s-Count-Olaf-in-disguise theories far too many times, they’re also much more proactive and creative, taking matters into their own hands.

The Quagmire orphans

Why do the Quagmires have the same spyglass? Where is the third Quagmire? And why are their past and present so eerily similar with the Baudelaires?

The sense of humor

A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on reality, but it’s an over-the-top version of reality. If some characters (the grown-ups mostly) seem to overact, don’t roll your eyes -- it’s intentional! But the best humor is in the dialogue. There’s plenty of silliness and sarcasm to go around in this darkly comedic mystery that almost everyone gets to be funny -- yes, even the (not so) little (anymore) Sunny Baudelaire.

The new sets

“I love pushing the boundaries of reality,” says showrunner Barry Sonnenfeld, whose past projects include the film franchises Addams Family and Men in Black, and the critical darling Pushing Daisies, a TV show known as much for its fantastical sets as it is for its unique story, much like A Series of Unfortunate Events. “All of this show is filmed on soundstages and the sets that they build are uniformly incredible. They’re fully realized,” says Harris. “It’s as if you are in the greatest queue for a theme park attraction where every texture, every book, every lamp is exactly appropriate.”

The guest stars

As seen in the trailer, Roger Bart (pictured) plays the vice-principal, a.k.a. Sunny’s boss, in the Baudelaires’ new school. Is he going to help the Baudelaires, or will he be like most grown-ups on the show and not see Count Olaf for who he truly is? Other guest stars this season include (but are not limited to) Lucy Punch, Sara Rue, Tony Hale, Robbie Amell, David Alan Grier, and Nathan Fillion.

The new adventures

Now that the Baudelaires are smarter and more experienced in Count Olaf’s ways, the action is more suspenseful and intense. The new season is based on books five through nine of the novel series: The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival.

All 10 episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 will start streaming on Netflix on March 30, 2018.
